The Ax dragon fruit hybrid exhibits a striking and rare appearance among dragon fruit varieties. Its flowers display a beautiful purple color, which is quite uncommon in this fruit category, adding to its visual appeal. The fruit remains predominantly green, even when fully ripe, while its flesh reveals a vibrant red color. The name "Ax" derives from its parents, a crossbreed likely from Asunta 1 or 2 with the Condor variety. Fruits weigh in at a pound or just over a pound, the flesh is firm with excellent unique berry flavor, very sweet with an average Brix of 19.
